Project handoff builder

Give the next person or agent a factual starting point, without confusing plans with completed work.

This tool prepares a request for your agent to create the final document. A rough description is enough. Leave unknowns blank; the exported instructions ask your agent to clarify or inspect them. Nothing here calls a model, uploads files, or saves your entries.

The outcome and the important decisions already made.

Name artifacts, changes, and actual checks. “Not tested yet” is useful information.

Paths, links, brief filenames, or attached examples. Do not include secrets.

Open questions, blockers, boundaries, and the next useful action.

What this template helps your agent work out
  • Record the handoff date and actual repository revision or artifact versions when available. Mark missing state explicitly rather than guessing.
  • Separate confirmed decisions, current implementation, checks actually run with results, proposed work, and unresolved questions. Link supporting evidence.
  • Identify relevant files and commands from inspection. Do not copy secrets, credentials, or unnecessary sensitive data into the handoff.
  • Explain why important choices were made and what would justify revisiting them. Preserve user constraints without converting old suggestions into authorization.
  • Give the next agent a small concrete next step, dependencies, and stop conditions. Require it to check current state before changing anything based on possibly stale notes.

Review your request

Copy or download this request and give it to your agent with relevant files. The agent inspects the context and drafts the final document for your review. Do not install this request as project instructions.

What next?

Give the draft and relevant workflow files to your agent. Ask it to separate confirmed facts, assumptions, and proposed choices, then review the result.
